--The Speed of Understanding--
I'm always astonished by the variety of animal life on our planet. That wonderful diversity makes it very difficult for us science fiction writers to come up with something new—something that nature hasn't already invented. I tried hard in this story to come up with a novel symbiotic mechanism. I'm a physicist, not a biologist, and that fact perhaps gives me the freedom to unashamedly play loose in the field of genetics. This story appeared in Analog SF magazine in 2005. --Hotel Security-- This the story of a security expert trapped in an intelligent hotel room. It also concerns an intelligent bed and teddy bear. The story appeared first in the December 2005 issue of Analog Magazine. |
